3. Pack the mush into an 8×4 loaf pan and cover it with a plastic wrap, letting it chill overnight. I recommend you to chill it for about 10 to 12 hours. Once it is chilled and set, you can slice it to continue cooking, or store it in the freezer properly until it’s ready to use.
4. To cook the scrapple, cut the loaf into slices about a quarter to half-inch thick. While you slice the scrapple, preheat the pan on the stove under medium heat. Add the oil once the pan is heated enough. The oil is optional, as the scrapple has enough grease to use. But opt for a nonstick skillet to ensure easy cooking, and so the scrapple won’t stick to it.
5. Put the pieces of scrapple on the pan, leaving at least half an inch of space between each slice. Then let each side to cook for about five minutes or once the side that’s cooking becomes crispy and turns brown. Flip the scrapple and let it cook for five minutes again or until the piece is also brown and crispy.
6. Take the cooked scrapple off the pan and turn off the heat once you’re done. Place it on a dish with paper towels to reduce the oil. Let it cook for a few minutes and serve it with your favorite condiments or main breakfast dishes. Enjoy!
